Investigation Leads To Arrest After Theft Of Bicycles Valued At $5,000 From Westport Residence

After an extensive investigation into the disappearance of two bicycles worth $5,000 collectively for the detached garage of a Fairfield County homeowner, a suspect was charged with two felonies by Westport Police.

Months after the bikes were reported stolen on Saturday, July 17, a warrant was issued for the arrest of Jose Velasquez in relation to the theft. 

After he turned himself in at police headquarters on the afternoon of Wednesday, Sept. 9, Velasquez was charged with the felonies third-degree burglary and third-degree larceny. He posted a bond of $7,500, and will be sentenced in Norwalk Superior Court next month.
